ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a safe, long-standing practice used in the treatment of different neurological, joint and muscular complaints.

There is ample research supporting Acupuncture and it's benefits, including pain-signal inhibition, tissue remodelling through cellular mechanisms, and influencing neurological receptors for proper tissue behaviour.

Many people opt for Acupuncture based on personal preference, and it can be considered in the long-term treatment plan of individuals. With Acupuncture used as a treatment option, Chiropractors can combine their knowledge and skills in delivering effective patient care.

EXERCISE AND MOVEMENT PATTERNING

Exercise and Movement Patterning are key components to how an individual overcomes an injury, and how they can prevent their complaint from recurring. Rehabilitation measures can be a key indicator toward a patient’s long-term success, which is why Chiropractors utilize a properly tailored exercise plan when helping a patient.

For example, individuals who have long-standing Low Back pain have shown to have deficits in muscle control and movement coordination in the spine, thus needing rehabilitative interventions to improve movement control and core stability.

Other regions, such as the Shoulder, Hip, Knee and Ankle, can also respond through specific exercise protocols; all of which to help patients heal faster and return them to their regular activities.

POSTURAL RECONDITIONING

Many Neck, Low Back, and even Shoulder conditions, can often be traced to poor postural habits that a patient develops over an extensive period of time (ex. sitting at work, driving, texting, computer work, etc.). To overcome this, postural reconditioning is the incorporation of both rehabilitative and education measures that targets poor posture, why it develops and how it can be improved.

Postural reconditioning uses an active approach to improving joint mobility and muscle behaviour for a patient outside the clinical setting.

Poor posture is something that nearly all people develop due to busy schedules and lack of physical activity. While there is no such thing as “perfect” posture, optimal posture is developed through a series of good habits that is constantly practiced, specific to the patient’s everyday activities. Chiropractors are known to be experts in helping patients achieve optimal posture to alleviate different complaints they present with.

JOINT MOBILIZATIONS

Joint mobilizations, also known as “adjusting”, is a safe procedure that Chiropractors can use to help improve the mobility of a joint structure(s) that are known to contribute to a patient’s complaint. In short, joint mobilizations help a joint move beyond its physiological capabilities to restore essential movement. While there are many reasons why a joint becomes restricted, new research has highlighted the benefits of this technique, in combination with other forms of manual therapy, to help restore optimal health.

In addition, Chiropractic mobilizations have been shown to change neurological responses that coincide with pain and improper tissue behaviour, as well as to demonstrate very minimal adverse effects.

MUSCLE-RELEASE THERAPY

Muscle-Release Therapy is used with patients to alleviate muscle pain and tension, as well as change tissue compliance. In many musculoskeletal conditions, muscles become tight as a result of injury or even due to body adaptations from individual habits. With Muscle-Release Therapy, Chiropractors can help a patient restore mobility around a particular structure or region that corresponds to their pain.

Muscle-Release Therapy’s main objective is to achieve optimal tissue compliance and regional movement based on how the muscle and corresponding tissues contract and lengthen. As well, this therapeutic option has been shown to affect the neurological components of these structures as well. Most research supports the use of Muscle-Release Therapy in combination with other forms of manual therapeutic options to improve a patient’s condition, which is why Chiropractors use this tool toward a patient’s health goals.

VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS

MCMRehab works to connect with new and current patients through Virtual Appointment sessions.

Virtual Appointments are 60-minute video sessions focused on assessing and treating the patient’s complaint, as well as any contributing factors that exacerbate these conditions (ex. movement deficiencies, ergonomic set-up, etc.). During these Virtual Treatment sessions, patients will be provided an in-depth analysis and treatment plan specific to them, including Muscle-Release techniques, Joint Mobility, and Exercise/ Movement Retraining measures. This is a new way to engage our patients with the highest quality and most safe, convenient level of care; all of which to improve their health and prevent their pain.
